We had a lovely day yesterday and the day before with family and friends as we enjoyed remembering our savior's birth. Today, life goes on. We are excited to be moving into a new year with Albion Christian College. God is doing wonderful things in and through us, keep us in your prayers and have a wonderful holiday season!

Refugee Ministry

I have uploaded pictures of ACC's ministry to Nepalise Refugees at the ACC Facebook Group. We have been having a wonderful time ministering to this group of predominant Hindus. Bize, one of the few Christians, who is going to be attending ACC, led one of the Hindus to the Lord last week. We also have several Hindus who want to take classes here as well. Please pray for us, and pray about helping the refugees, either by providing blankets, scarves, gloves, etc. or by helping Binod, Dipac (a Hindu) and Bize attend ACC.

Finals

This week is finals: Keep students in your prayers as they drive to tests and as they finish the first semester at Albion Christian College. Last night we had freezing rain followed by snow, so safe travels is definitely big on prayer needs since we have one student traveling three hours back from home to take the tests and another traveling one hour.

We thank God for the provision He has given us this year as we daily rely on Him to fulfill our needs and our students' needs. We are thankful that the first semester is done and ACC is no longer my parents dream, but has become a reality.

Preparing for Next Semester

I am thinking about moving out of the college house to start a single guys apartment for the next semester. We have a class list up for spring semester. Dad and mom are both preparing for finals next week.

Today is a slow day, with only one class and the weekend approaching, we take a little time to sit and do house hold things (like shopping for thanksgiving food, yay!). In the busy life of a 21st century American, it is always good to stop and take time to remember God and to rest in Him. Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy, for you were slaves in Egypt and God brought you out to give you rest. Whatever day, whatever moment we have, we take and remember that the Lord Jesus Christ is our Sabbath, our rest and we can trust and rely in Him.

Learning to Not Complain

Sometimes it is extremely easy to understand how the Israelites felt wandering around on the desert, worried more about food than standing in absolute wonder of the God of the Universe who went before them. So often today, thousands of years later, I hear Christians (myself included) talk about how they have to take every speck before the Lord, and seek Him for every need, every pain, every decision.

At times when money seems short and the road is too long, I remind myself to approach God with a sense of love and longing that reflects the fact that I am part of His bride, the church. As ACC goes forward with educating people to see the Hand of God in our lives, we need to remember to appreciate Him and the fact that the God of the Universe goes before us.

The Value of Education

Today we went to see the African Children's Choir perform and I was struck by the need of good education for reform in any nation. The Music for Life Organization, the parent organization for African Children's Choir, is involved in educating many students, giving them support through high school and college until the students can make an impact on Africa with their lives. Watching the promotional videos for Africa Children's Choir greatly encouraged me to know that Albion Christian College can make an impact in many generations, across many nations, by training up teachers.

Albion Christian College now has a Twitter account. For people who want more up to the second info on goings on here in southern Idaho, the Twitter account is albionchristian.

Also, I have formed a Facebook group for Albion Christian College. I have not yet decided how to use these tools to their full advantages, any ideas would be welcome.

Albion Christian College has a facebook group now, as well as being on Twitter. I hope to be able to keep people up to date accurately and timely as we do ministry, have classes, do fundraising, open online courses and other mediums of communication over long distances. Stay tuned!

A Sunday of Refugees

After giving an update and attending Valley Christian Fellowship, in Grandview, ID, we took several Bhutanese up to Boise yesterday to shop at India Foods, an incredible store with very cheap rice and spices. After they ran through the store, ecstatic to see foods unavailable to them here in the Magic Valley, we took them to visit another group of refugees in Boise. This was a tremendous opportunity of learning and ministry. Keep us in your prayers as we minister to people who have just come to the US, and as we teach those who want to know more about the Bible and about Christian thinking and worldviews.

Scholarship Needs

We have the opportunity to minister to Bhutanese refugees who have moved to Idaho after spending 18 years in a refugee camp in Nepal. Several of these people want to attend classes at ACC for training in ministry. This is a tremendous opportunity for the school to move forward with our mission, training students from every nation to think critically, examine God's word thoroughly, worship God whole heartedly and serve the church worldwide. Those of the Bhutanese who wish to attend classes and go back out on the mission field are going to be working full time to pay the US government for airfare over from Nepal as well as to live here in the US, so they need financial assistance to attend Albion Christian College. Keep them in your prayers and if God leads you to donate so that Deepac, Binod, Bize, or Moan can come to ACC, please donate on the donation page online and email weston.mccarron@albionchristian.com saying how much you donated and that it is for the refugee scholarship fund, or send a check to Albion Christian College, 146 10th Ave E, Jerome ID, 83338 and write on the memo line Refugee scholarship fund.

Doing the job God gives us

It is so easy, in times of economic turmoils and in times of personal revival, to look at others around us and say "Hey! you should change!" But, as my dad was reminding one of our students, we must do the work God has given us. I must take this to heart because it is so easy to want to do more and ending up doing nothing. We are still working, preparing for next semester, recruiting students, speaking to churches, getting classes organized, preparing for the Writing Road to Reading Seminar, but sometimes I think that is not enough.

It is.

So, if you read this, go with God, do His work. Do not complain about the task He has given you, but hold tightly to His hand and walk forward with joy.

Update on Writing Road to Reading Seminar

The cost for the Writing Road to Reading Seminar is now $125 to cover the cost of supplies. If you have a Writing Road to Reading book and want to bring your own supplies, the $25 can be dropped.
The class will be held at 146 10th Ave East in Jerome. There is a $10 incentive for recruiting additional students: for each student you invite ten dollars will be taken off the cost of the seminar up to the full price.
This is a great method of teaching young children how to both write and read while covering the basic principles of English phonetics and phonemics.

A Writing Road To Reading

Diane Davis, faculty at Albion Christian College, will be teaching a class on the phonics reading program Writing Road to Reading. This will take place from 5-9 pm on Friday, Nov. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 8. The class is open to any who wish to take it, will cost $100.

I am working on setting up online courses, these will probably be revealed in the next month. We are busy teaching and working. I am working on raising enough finances to pay our staff so that ACC can continue to move forward as an educational institution, mom and dad are both teaching. This fall is going quickly: please remember to pray for the college and consider donating on the web-page. You can donate by hovering your mouse over the get involved tab, clicking on the "donate now" option and filling out the information there. The website takes both one-time and recurring donations so you can set it up to donate once a month or bi-annually.

First Day

We have had a wonderful day with our two full time students who spent time studying with us here today. The excitement mom and dad and I feel at starting the college is almost palpable. I am looking forward to the rest of this week, seeing who from our part-timers will come and watching to see the character of Albion Christian College develop. We are well on the journey.

1 Short Nap

We are starting classes tomorrow, after one short nap. Although I have known that God is calling us to start this college, the idea that we now have classes starting, with full-time students seeking degrees and part-time students seeking to learn is blowing my mind. God is so good to us.

Mom and I just spent a wonderful 10 days in PA with family, catching up on TV, working on dissertation (mom), helping family remodel an awesome building (me), hanging out with my amazing cousins. Now we are back and I have been working getting syllabi and other information ready to start tomorrow.

As of right now, we are going to be having classes at our place of residence, 146 10th Ave E in Jerome. We need to expand, so if any church wants to offer classroom space, that would be ideal.

God is good, and we are starting!!!!!!!

2 Weeks

In 2 weeks, we will open for our first classes. This is an exciting time, but also a time of learning to trust God every single day for each days work and sustenance. We are going to be holding classes in a church here in Jerome and housing students in apartments here as well.

Mom and I are going to spend 10 out of the next 14 days mom and I will be spending in Pennsylvania talking to churches. Dad will be here getting classrooms ready and helping students with housing and with job opportunities.

We spent all day cleaning the house, preparing for family to come into town tomorrow. Physical labor can be a great activity for one's health. We are looking forward to spending time with family and keeping our activities local for the next week or so. We are praying about speaking at other churches as we approach the last weeks of summer. School starts in just under 5 weeks. We are continuing to recruit full time and part time students. If you are interested in taking classes, look on the website for information and an application.
