Day 6

My sister picked up an inspirational book containing the psalms and read "May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests. Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their kneew and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. O Lord, save the king! Answer us when we call."(Psalm 20).

This was good for us to hear as we realize the enormity of the journey we have embarked upon with God.
May He glorify Himself!

Day 5

We went up and took some people to see the Albion Campus today. People are still excited, with people coming by to see what we are doing. Nervousness abounds as we continue praying for God to come through in purchasing the campus.
Weston has put Paypal on the site and been talking to the auctioneer as well as accountants for tax information. Apparently, if the college becomes Tax Exempt within the year, then any donations made now will be tax exempt.

God's leading

This has definitely been an exciting few days! However, as C. S. Lewis stated, we all must come down from the mountain top to the normal pace of life. So, today, we took care of the business needs of the college, including getting our articles of incorporation filed in Boise. We continued to talk to many people, sharing the vision of the college. And prayed. We pray with business co-workers, people God sends our way, and we pray together. We must wait and see what God is going to do! He is able to guide us through this next week, and that will determine the style of college that He wants. If God gives us Albion, then we will have the old "hilltop college" which emphasizes community and relationships between the faculty, staff and students (For an excellent description of this, see Elton Trueblood's book The Idea of a College). If not, He will show us the style of college that He desires.

Continue to pray.

Day 4

A slower day, I am now teaching mom how to use blogger. The flu has been going around our houses and it seems my nephew now has it. Joy. We are continuing to make contacts with people and are planning on taking some interested parties to Albion tomorrow to look at the campus. Keep praying.

Trust

As this week flies by, we are all learning how hard it is to trust God. Money is an incredibly large issue now as we pray about the college. If Albion Christian College is going to be in Albion, we need God to work upon people's hearts. The times like now, when mom, dad and weston are out doing things with the college and Rachel and I are home. I find it hard to relax and trust God, but that is all any of us can do: trust Him.

Still, the responses from people are incredible as they join us in prayer, in commitment to labor and in finances. While the initial shock over the fact that we are finally starting the college (which dad has been planning for longer than I've been alive) is turning into a calm reserve to work with this college.

Day 2

God is moving quickly here. My dad has called another person to be on the board of ACC, which increases the number to 6 men from 4 states, and we are trying to reach another. My family is pacing as we think about what to do next and the incredible journey we have embarked on. The website went online this morning at around 1, and Weston finally worked the kinks out of the blog this afternoon.
Dad has written a mission statement which we will send out to the board soon. We are praying that God will continue to show His grace and provision this week...

It is now Monday Night, we have talked with a local businesslady and asked her to do fundraising and p.r. work for the college. Many people we are talking to are catching the excitement of Albion Christian College. Thank you God for a good day.

First Day

Life is crazy here in Jerome. After visiting the campus of what was Albion Normal School in Albion Idaho on Saturday, we decided to start a college (which has been my dad's vision for years). Yesterday after church we phoned members of the board to ask them to be on the board. By the end of last night we had 5 board members in three states. We received our first $10,000 dollar pledge toward building the college.
We also wrote the Articles of Incorporation, even though we can't hand them in until Tuesday. Needless to say, yesterday was quite crazy and all of us are feeling a little dazed by the speed we have been working.

God is doing a miracle, and I am excited to be a part of it.
